The Fisherman receives several awards during its World Premiere

fila20's new release, The Fisherman, just won this weekend four of the top awards during its World Premiere at Muestra Joven: Grand Jury Prize, Best Production (Reinel García Pérez), Best Actor (Carlos Vigón) and Best Cinematography (Pablo Ascanio y Javier Pérez).

Written and directed by Ana A. Alpízar, the short film tells the story of Tomás (Carlos Vigón), a humble Cuban fisherman who, for the sake of his family, needs to capture a fish tonight. Child actress Evelín Orihuela Catena and fila20's usual, Yaité Ruiz (Yunaisy), complete the main cast.

The Fisherman had gathered extra support by winning the World Cinema Amsterdam Fund, the Prix Eric Jean, and the Haciendo Cine Production Fund. fila20 wants to thank these and also other organizations who helped to shape our movie, as Jenova Pro, Fondo Noruego para el Cine Cubano, DB Estudios, and Estudios ST.

Now ahead of its international premiere and film festivals tour, The Fisherman sets a wonderful first step with all these prizes and we congratulate its great team for that!
